Hello, and welcome to AP Senior Portraits. I'm Melissa. Some of you might be really confused right, now but I can explain. Audrey, former creator, owner, and photographer of AP Senior Portraits has retired! She announced her departure in the Fall of 2023 and later moved out of the country to enjoy her retirement. Audrey was kind enough to pass on her business name and website to me, Melissa. We first met through our husbands who worked together for over 15 years and also through her daughter, Lauren, who played softball with my husband and I for a few years until about 2017. Audrey knew I was interested in starting my own HS Senior Photography business and this was a perfect transition. So here I am, writing my first blog for the webpage before launching it as my own.
Back to the topic of this blog post, ME! I am blessed with a beautiful family that includes my wonderful husband, whom I've been with for 15 years, and our gorgeous, smart, sassy daughter. When I was younger, I attended CSU in Fort Collins after graduating high school in Aurora, CO. My husband jokes that it took me 6.5 years to complete a 4-year degree but that's because I chose to join the Army National Guard during college and got deployed to Iraq in 2008. When I returned from my tour I returned to CSU and finished my degree. I am currently working a full-time career. This is my hobby but I'm starting a business because I love it so much. I love taking people's portraits and making them feel good about themselves.
Although I wasn't born in CO, I was raised here since the 5th grade. Some of my favorite things about Colorado are our abundance of sunny days, our stunning snowcapped mountain views, artistic murals painted in multiple urban downtown areas, and our Stanley Cup Champion's Colorado Avalanche! I'm excited to get out and explore more of Colorado's hidden gems with you while we find the locations that fit your unique style for your HS Senior portraits. So, let's get to know each other for real!
